An infected tooth nerve can be extremely uncomfortable, it also may be asymptomatic and only detectable via radiographic and clinical exam. Either instance should be urgently addressed. Assuming there is adequate healthy tooth structure, an infected tooth can only be saved by removing the source of the infection via root canal therapy. We recommend that a crown is placed as soon after a root canal as possible to best ensure the longevity of the tooth.
